Darren McCarthy, an ally of the terrorist ringleader Abu Fayed, planned to kidnap someone who could arm the trigger mechanism for a suitcase nuclear device. McCarthy and his contact discussed possibilities, including Taylor Pascal, but the contact ruled out Pascal because he didn't have the practical knowledge for arming such a mechanism. McCarthy and the contact eventually decided that Morris O'Brian was the best person to coerce for Fayed.
